John Guare, Gregory Mosher, et al. to Teach Master Classes for YoungArts’ In the Studio Week

Tony Award-winners John Guare and Gregory Mosher are among the artists who will teach master classes as part of YoungArts’ weeklong In the Studio, running April 17-23.

37 of the nation’s top high school student actors, musicians, singers, dancers, writers, photographers, visual artists and filmmakers have been selected for the program, which offers an intensive week of interdisciplinary artistic workshops and performances. The program will culminate in a performance at the Baryshnikov Arts Center and an exhibition at Affirmation Arts Gallery on April 21.

Additional theater faculty for the program are Jerry Ruiz, Heidi Miami Marshall, Joan Lader, and Tom Vasiliades. The jazz teachers include Ted Rosenthal, Ron McCurdy, Justin DiCioccio, Ronald C. McCurdy and Nestor Torres. Other mentors include Melissa Manchester (Voice), Matthew Rushing (Dance), Rebecca Stenn (Dance), Jean Shinn (Visual Arts and Photography), Eddye Pierce Young (Voice), and Jlove (Writing).

In conjunction with the 2010 In the Studio week, HBO, as previously announced, will air the first of its 9-part series, MasterClass on April 18. This is a documentary on YoungArts featuring Placido Domingo, Frank Gehry, Liv Ullmann, Bill T. Jones, Julian Schnabel and other former YoungArts Master Teachers.
