Frank Blocker, Chris Orbach, et al. Join Richard Sheinmel in Post Modern Living

Frank Blocker and Chris Orbach will join playwright/performer Richard Sheinmel in the world premiere of Post Modern Living, at La MaMa E.T.C. Jason Jacobs will direct the production, which will run April 16-May 2, with an opening on April 18.

As previously reported, Sheinmel’s series follows Mitch, a gay “downtown” New York performance artist (played by Sheinmel), as he writes plays about his life. Post Modern Living features two interconnected tales. The first half follows a day in the life of Mitch and Chester, a committed couple in a long time relationship. While the second half takes place on Mother’s Day, as Mitch help his mom with her garden. The production features original songs by Clay Zambo.

The cast will also include Briana Davis, Mick Hilgers, Wendy Merritt, and Catherine Porter. The production team will include John McDermott (sets), Jennifer Caprio (costumes), Tim Schellenbaum (sound), Timothy M. Walsh (lighting), Monica Minoui (hair), Scott Ethier (musical director), Gabriel Luce (bass), and Daniel Acquisto (drums).

Blocker received a Drama Desk nomination for his solo show Southern Gothic Novel, and is currently starring in Fearless Moral Inventory. Orbach is a singer/songwriter/actor (and son of Jerry Orbach), whose latest album is Secession.
