Daniel Sullivan to Discuss Merchant of Venice in Public’s April 22 Shakespeare Salon

Director Daniel Sullivan will appear in the Public Theater’s next Shakespeare Salon offering, to be held at Chinatown Brasserie (380 Lafayette Street) on April 22, at 6pm.

During the event, Sullivan will discuss his upcoming Shakespeare in the Park production of The Merchant of Venice with the Public’s Shakespeare Initiative Director Barry Edelstein.

Sullivan’s previous credits at the Public Theater include Twelfth Night, A Midsummer Night’s Dream (2007), Stuff Happens and The Merry Wives of Windsor. His Broadway credits include Accent on Youth, Top Girls, The Homecoming, Prelude to a Kiss, Rabbit Hole, Brooklyn Boy, Sight Unseen, Morning’s at Seven, Proof, The Sisters Rosensweig, Conversations With My Father, and The Heidi Chronicles. His numerous off-Broadway credits include Intimate Apparel, Dinner With Friends, Ten Unknowns, and Spinning Into Butter. From 1981 to 1997, Sullivan served as Artistic Director of Seattle Repertory Theatre, where he directed more than 60 productions.

The Shakespeare Salon series offers conversations with the artists whose charge is to interpret the works of Shakespeare on the stages of The Public Theater.
