Billy Elliot: the Musical to Bow in South Korea in August

Billy Elliot: The Musical will begin performances in Seoul, South Korea this August, according to published reports. The musical will be performed in Korean and feature a South Korean cast, including Lee Ji-myeong, Jung Jin-ho, Im Sun-woo and Kim Se-yong, who will alternate the title role.

Based on the 2000 film of the same name, the show tells the tale of a young boy with a dream of being a dancer. The show won 10 Tony Awards, including Best Musical. It features music by Elton John, book and lyrics by Lee Hall, choreography by Peter Darling and direction by Stephen Daldry.

There are current productions on Broadway and the West End and the first American national tour begins in Chicago this month.
