Anthony Roth Costanzo to Perform at Glimmerglass Opera Gala Honoring James Ivory

Countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo will perform at the Glimmerglass Opera’s 2010 Spring Gala to be held on April 27, at 6:30pm at the Metropolitan Club. The event will honor filmmaker James Ivory and will benefit Glimmerglass Opera’s Young American Artists Program, the training program for young singers of which Costanzo is an alumnus.

Costanzo was seen as Francis in Ivory’s film A Soldier’s Daughter Never Cries and will be featured on the soundtrack of Ivory’s The City of Your Final Destination, which is scheduled for theatrical release on April 16. Among Ivory’s other films are A Room with a View, Maurice, Howards End, The Remains of the Day, Le Divorce, and The White Countess.

In addition to his work on film, Costanzo has appeared in Glimmerglass productions of Handel’s Guilio Cesare in Egitto and Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas. He will make his New York City Opera debut in April in Partenope, co-produced with Glimmerglass and he will be sing the title role in Handel’s Tolomeo to be produced by Glimmerglass this summer.
