Full cast and creative team information has been announced for the world premiere of Hilary Bettis’ American Girls, to be presented by Dog Run Rep at the 45th Street Theater, April 3-27, with an opening set for April 6. Jeff Cohen will direct.

Bettis draws on her experience working in the adult entertainment industry (in this case, strip clubs) to explore what would happen if innocent 14-year-old girls, growing up in America’s heartland, rationalized their love of Jesus with an obsessive desire for fame.

Bettis will star in the play, along with Kira Sternbach. The creative team will include costume design by Gail Cooper-Hecht, set design by Ryan Kravetz, lighting design by Evan Purcell and video design by Gray Winslow.

Cohen is Dog Run Rep’s artistic director, and was previously the artistic director of the Worth Street Theater Company. His previous directing credits include The Moonlight Room and Four.
