Daisey, Zayas et al. Set for Soho Rep Reading Series

Soho Rep has announced the selections for the 10th season of its “Writer/Director Lab Reading Series.” All readings will take place at 7pm at Soho Rep (46 Walker Street), and are FREE and open to the public.

The series will kick off on Monday, April 7 with playwright Mike Daisey’s The Moon Is a Dead World, directed by Maria Goyanes. It
will also include The Past Is Not a Foreign Country: (Very Personal) Maps of Seattle) by Mallery Avidon, directed by Jose Zayas on Monday, April 14; Mr. Apocope by Amber Reed, directed by Alec Duffy on Sunday, April 20; Precious Little, by Madeleine George, directed by Miriam Weiner on Monday, April 28; In the Labyrinth: A Spectacle with Stories by Dan LeFranc, directed by Linsay Firman on Monday, May 5; and Putting the Days to Bed by Deron Bos, directed by Jimena Duca on Sunday, May 11.

The lab commissions six writers to create a new project from scratch, working alongside a director for nine months and culminating in a free public reading series every April and May. To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the lab, an anthology of plays is in the works for publiciation during the 2008/2009 season. On Monday, May 5, Soho Rep will also welcome previous lab participants to celebrate the past decade with a 10th anniversary party.
