Complete casting has been announced for the Broadway revival of Clifford Odets’ drama The Country Girl, to be directed by Tony Award and Academy Award winner Mike Nichols. The production will begin previews at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre on April 3, with an opening set for April 27.

Joe Roland will join the previously announced Morgan Freeman, Frances McDormand, Peter Gallagher, Remy Auberjonois, Anna Camp, Lucas Caleb Rooney, and Chip Zien.

The play, which premiered on Broadway in 1950, is about a down-on-his luck alcoholic actor (Freeman) and his unhappy wife (McDormand), whose fortunes look to change when he is offered a role by a hot-shot director (Gallagher).

The creative team will include Tim Hatley (scenic design), Albert Wolsky (costume design), Natasha Katz (lighting design), and Acme Sound Partners (sound design).
Nichols, one of the most awarded directors in theatrical history, is currently represented by Monty Python’s Spamalot, for which he won the Tony Award.
