Bobby Steggert, Nancy Anderson and Jeffry Denman will headline a public developmental reading of Yank!, a musical by brothers David and Joseph Zellnik, to take place at 2pm on Monday, March 10 at the Zipper Factory. A second reading, scheduled for 3pm on Tuesday, March 11 at the Theatre at St. Peter’s, is already sold out. The readings, sponsored by the York Theatre Company, will be directed by Igor Goldin, with musical direction by Dan Feyer.

Set during World War II, the show takes a look at gays in the military by following the story of a war reporter and an army private who fall in love and struggle to survive in a time and place where the odds are stacked against them. The show was previously presented at the New York Musical Theatre Festival in 2005 and last fall at the Gallery Players, where it also starred Steggert, Anderson, and Denman.

The cast will also feature Michael Baker, Leo Ash Evens, Chad Harlow, Ivan Hernandez, Matt Loehr, Tally Sessions, Doug Shapiro, Dennis Stowe, and Kevin Worley.
