Former Desperate Housewives star Steven Culp and Jessi Campbell will headline the West Coast premiere of David Harrower’s Olivier Award-winning two-character play Blackbird at San Francisco’s American Conservatory Theatre, April 27-May 27. The production, to be directed by Loretta Greco, will open officially on May 2.

The winner of the Best New Play award, Blackbird deals with the repercussions of a sexual affair that ended a dozen years before. The show is currently receiving its American premiere at New York’s Manhattan Theatre Club, directed by Joe Mantello and starring Jeff Daniels and Alison Pill.

The creative team for the A.C.T. production includes Robert Brill (sets), David F. Draper (costumes), Russell H. Champa (lighting), and Jake Rodriguez (sound). Greco recently directed Victoria Martin: Math Team Queen, starring Campbell, at the Women’s Project in New York City. Her other credits include Lackawanna Blues, Gum, and Having Our Say.

Culp is best known for playing Rex Van De Camp on ABC’s hit series Desperate Housewives. His other stage credits include Angels in America, Coastal Disturbances, Richard III, and Raised in Captivity.
