A memorial to honor Patrick Quinn, longtime president of Actors’ Equity Association, is set for 2pm on Monday, March 26 at the St. James Theater. The memorial is open to the public; doors will open at 1:15.

Rebecca Luker, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Ann Harada, and Dana Ivey are scheduled to perform. Speakers will include Equity president Mark Zimmerman, executive director John Connolly, and agent Jim Wilhelm.

Quinn was president of AEA from 2000 to 2006; he had been selected to serve as the union’s executive director, but he died at age 55 in September 2006, two weeks before he was to assume his new position. A native Philadelphian and graduate of Temple University, he made his Broadway debut in the revival of Fiddler on the Roof with Zero Mostel and went on to appear in 10 more Broadway productions, including A Class Act, Beauty and the Beast, Lend Me a Tenor, and The Sound of Music. His final appearance was in the Cape Playhouse production of Sylvia.

In 1985, Quinn was one of the founders of Equity Fights AIDS; he served as the second vice president of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS from 1993 until his death. He was also a trustee of The Actors’ Fund of America, and served as secretary of the Actors’ Equity Foundation and a delegate to the Associated Actors and Artistes of America.

Quinn is survived by Martin Cassella, his partner of 12 and a half years; three brothers and a sister; and nine nephews and nieces.
