Chisholm, Ireland, LuPone, et al. Win IRNE Awards

Anthony Chisholm, Marin Ireland, and Patti LuPone are among the winners of the 2007 Independent Reviewers of New England’s (IRNE) Awards, honoring the best productions in and around Massachusetts. The awards were presented last night at the Boston Center for the Arts.

The Huntington Theatre Company production of Theresa Rebeck’s Mauritius took the award for Best New Play (Large), while Jacqui Parker’s Dark as a Thousand Midnights, presented by Our Place Theatre Project, won for Best New Play (Small).

Chisholm received his award in the supporting actor category for his work in August Wilson’s Radio Golf, Ireland for her leading role in Mauritius, and LuPone in the solo performance category for Lady with the Torch, presented by the Reagle Players.

Other award winners included the North Shore Music Theatre’s production of Hairspray for Best Musical (Large), New Repertory Theatre’s Ragtime for Best Musical (Small), the Roundabout Theatre Company’s national tour of Twelve Angry Men for Best Visiting Production (Large) as well as for Best Ensemble, and Jay Johnson’s solo show The Two and Only, which won for Best Visiting Production (Small).
