Chinese Version of I Love You, You’re Perfect Set for NYC

A Chinese-language version of the hit Off-Broadway show I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change will play in repertory with the American version at the Westside Theatre, May 9-June 3.

The Chinese company, which features Lin Yilun, Yu Yi, Wen Yang, and Ma Qingli, will perform the show entirely in Mandarin, with English supertitles projected above the stage. The production is helmed by Joel Bishoff, the show’s original director, who worked with translator Nick Rongjun Yu to incorporate local Chinese attitudes and references.

A co-production of the Shanghai Dramtic Arts Centre and Broadway Asia Entertainment, the production first played Shanghai last December. It will be the opening attraction at 2007 Beijing Theatre Festival on April 17. After the New York engagement, the company will return to China to launch an extended tour.
