Full cast and creative team have been announced for the Ford’s Theatre world premiere production of the musical Meet John Doe, to run March 16-April 29. The production will be directed by Eric Schaeffer.

Based on the classic Frank Capra film about a desperate Depression-era reporter who invents a fictional “John Doe” to save her job and then must hire a real mean to impersonate him, the musical has a book and score by Andrew Gerle and Eddie Sugarman, with additional story by Matt August. A previous developmental production of the show was produced at Goodspeed.

The show will star Heidi Blickenstaff, Joel Blum, James Moye, Guy Paul, Patrick Ryan Sullivan, and Stephen Smith. The ensemble will feature Christopher Bloch, Suzanne Briar, Michael Bunce, Evan Casey, Daniel Cohen, Danielle Eden, Eleasha Gamble, Channez McQuay, Amy McWilliams, Tracy Lynn Olivera, and Thomas Adrian Simpson.

The creative team will include Karma Camp (musical staging). Jamie Schmidt (musical direction), Jonathan Tunick (orchestrations), Derek McLane (sets), Alejo Vietti (costumes), Rui Rita (lighting), and David Budries (sound). Schaeffer is the artistic director of the Signature Theatre in Arlington, Virginia. He has won for Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Direction and six for Outstanding Musical.
