Beane, Gold, O’Donnell, et al. Win GLAAD Media Awards

Winners of the 18th annual GLAAD Media Awards in 26 categories were announced last night at the Marriott Marquis in New York City. Presenters at the event included Jennifer Hudson, Julianne Moore, and Cynthia Nixon.

There was a tie for Outstanding New York Theater (Broadway and Off-Broadway) between Judy Gold’s 25 Questions for a Jewish Mother and Douglas Carter Beane’s The Little Dog Laughed. The winner for Outstanding New York Theater (Off-Off-Broadway) was David Johnston’s Candy and Dorothy, and the winner for Outstanding Los Angeles Theater was Zsa Zsa Gerchik’s Blubonnet Court.

Rosie O’Donnell picked up an award for the HBO documentary All Aboard! Rosie’s Family Cruise. Among the other winners were Quinceanera for Outstanding Film (Limited Release), All My Children for Outstanding Daily Drama, Project Runway for Outstanding Reality Program, Details for Outstanding Magazine Overall Coverage, and former New York Times drama critic Frank Rich for Outstanding Newspaper Columnist.

In addition, the group gave special awards to singer Patti LaBelle, comedian Kate Clinton, and fashion designer Tom Ford.

Upcoming GLAAD ceremonies will be held in Los Angeles on April 14 at the Kodak Theatre; in San Francisco on April 28 at the Westin St. Francis; and in South Florida on May 10 at the JW Marriott Miami.
