Ashford, Brown, Williamson to Join Bakula in Reprise’s No Strings

Matthew Ashford, Sophina Brown, and Ruth Williamson will join previously announced star Scott Bakula in the Reprise! Broadway’s Best production of No Strings, May 8-20 at UCLA’s Freud Playhouse,

The musical has a score by Richard Rodgers and a book by Samuel Taylor. The Reprise! production will be directed by Kay Cole, with musical direction by Gerald Sternbach, choreography by Christine Kellogg, costume design by Bob Mackie and Joe Fate, sets by Bradley Kaye, lighting by Steven Young, and sound design by Phil Allen.

The cast also includes Joseph Culliton, Bets Malone, Brent Schindele, Carla Tassara, Audrey Cain, Bradley Dodds, Cherish Hamutoff, Abby Hencmann, Todd Christian Hunter, Masad Kitamura, Monica Lee, Tracy Powell, Rebecca Rainboldt, Vanessa Roth, Kate Roth, Anna Schnaitter, and John Todd.

No Strings tells the story of Barbara, a high-fashion model who meets David, a Pulitzer Prize-winning writer in Paris. They fall in love, but their lifestyles eventually lead them to part. The show’s songs include “The Sweetest Sounds” and “Love Makes the World Go Round.”

Brown, who will play Barbara, currently stars on the CBS series Shark. Ashford, who will play Mike, is best known for his work on the daytime dramas Days of Our Lives and General Hospital. Williamson, who will play Mollie, has starred on Broadway in the revivals of La Cage aux Folles and The Music Man.

Bakula, who will play David, made his Broadway debut in Marilyn: An American Fable and went on to star in Romance/Romance, for which he received a Tony nomination for Best Actor in a Musical. He received four Emmy Award nominations and a Golden Globe Award for his starring role in the TV series Quantum Leap.
