Soap Star Jacob Young to Join Beauty and the Beast

Jacob Young, the Emmy-Award winning soap star who plays JR Chandler on the ABC daytime drama All My Children, will take over the role of Lumiere in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast on May 9. He will stay with the show for 10 weeks, but will not perform Wednesday matinees. Young wiill replace Peter Flynn.

Young, who is making his Broadway debut, received the Daytime Emmy Award for his role as Lucky Spencer on General Hospital. He also played Rick Forrester Jr. on The Bold and the Beautiful. His other TV credits include Beach Boys: An All American Family and Hope and Faith. He has also appeared in benefits for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, and released a solo CD entitled Jacob Young.

Beauty and the Beast will celebrate its 12th anniversary on April 18. The show currently stars Ashley Brown, Steve Blanchard, Grant Norman, Jeanne Lehman, Jamie Ross, Jeff Brooks, Meredith Inglesby, Mary Stout, and Aldrin Gonzalez.
