Delta Burke will join the cast of Del Shores’ Southern Baptist Sissies for the show’s recently announced extension at the Zephyr Theater in L.A., March 29-April 22.

Part of the theater’s “Season of Shores,” devoted to the author’s work, the show is running in repertory with Sordid Lives. Burke will play the roles of three mothers in Southern Baptist Sissies. An exploration into the lives of four gay men who were raised in the church, the play was previously seen in Los Angeles in 2000; it has won numerous awards, including a GLAAD Media Award.

Burke, who appeared in the film version of Sordid Lives, received two Emmy Award nominations for her role of Suzanne Sugarbaker in the television series Designing Women. Her other TV credits include Filthy Rich, 1st & Ten, DAG, and Delta. In recent years, she has starred on Broadway in Thoroughly Modern Millie and Steel Magnolias.
