Actress Dana Reeve, the widow of actor Christopher Reeve, died on March 6 in New York City from lung cancer. She was 44 years old.

Reeve appeared on Broadway in More to Love and in numerous Off-Broadway productions, including Portraits. She had been announced to star in the Manhattan Theatre Club production of Brooklyn Boy last season but withdrew from the show after her husband’s death in 2004. Last year, she did a cabaret show at Feinstein’s at the Regency. She also served on the boards of the Williamstown Theatre Festival and the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey.

Christopher Reeve fell off a horse in 1995 and injured his spinal cord. The couple then founded the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation, of which Dana was the chairperson until her death. She is survived by her father, Dr. Charles Morosoni; her sisters, Deborah and Adrienne; her 13-year-old son, Will; and her stepchildren, Matthew and Alexandra.
