Carole Shelley to Join Wicked in Chicago

Carole Shelley will take on the role of Madame Morrible in the Chicago production of Wicked, April 25-June 25.

Shelley, who originated the role on Broadway, will temporarily take over from Rondi Reed, who will be appearing in the Northlight Theatre Company’s production of The Retreat from Moscow. Reed will return to Wicked on June 27.

Shelley recieved a Tony Award for her performance in The Elephant Man. Her other Broadway credits include Stepping Out, Noises Off, Cabaret, The Last Night of Ballyhoo, and the original production of The Odd Couple. Her film credits include Bewitched, Quiz Show, and The Road to Welville.

The current cast of Wicked includes Kristy Cates (Elphaba), Stacie Morgan Lewis (Glinda), Gene Weygandt (The Wizard), Heidi Kettenring (Nessarose), Steven Skybell (Doctor Dilamond), Telly Leung (Boq), and Kristoffer Cusick (Fiyero).
