Call on Tovah: Feldshuh Will Play Title Role in Paper Mill’s Hello, Dolly!

Tovah Feldshuh will play the irrepresible widow Dolly Levi in the upcoming Paper Mill Playhouse production of the classic 1964 musical Hello, Dolly!, June 7- July 23. The production will be directed by Mark Hoebee and will open officially on Saturday, June 10.

Based on The Matchmaker, by Thornton Wilder, Hello, Dolly! has a score by Jerry Herman and a book by Michael Stewart. The original Broadway production was directed by Gower Champion and starred Carol Channing; among the other stars who played Dolly during the 2,844 peformance run were Pearl Bailey, Phyllis Diller, and Ethel Merman. There have been three Broadway revivals of the show, two of them starring Channing and one starring Bailey.

Feldshuh is a four-time Tony Award nominee for her work in Golda’s Balcony, Lend Me a Tenor, Yentl, and Sarava. She also appeared on Broadway in Cyrano and in the revue Rodgers & Hart. Her film and television credits include Kissing Jessica Stein, Law & Order, and Holocaust.
