New York Philharmonic to Present A Midsummer Night’s Dream With Starry Cast

Scott will play Oberon and Theseus; Harden will play Hermia, Quince, and Cobweb; Davis will play Helena, Snout, and Moth; Emond will play Hippolyta and Titania; Rogers will play Egeus, Philostrate, Starveling, Mustardseed, and Puck; Pisoni will play Demetrius, Flute, and Peaseblossom; and Shamos will play Lysander and Bottom. The actors will be joined by singers Susan Gritton (soprano) and Patricia Risley (mezzo-soprano), who will perform Mendelssohn’s music with the Philharmonic. The semi-staged production will be directed by Edward Berkeley and conducted by Sir Neville Marriner. The women of the New York Choral Artists will also participate in the production, which is the first program in the Philharmonic Festival “Visions of the Beyond.”

Performances of A Midsummer Night’s Dream are scheduled for March 17, 18, 19, and 22 at Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall. Single tickets range in price from $25 to $90 and may be purchased by visiting newyorkphilharmonic.org, by calling 212-875-5656, or by visiting the Avery Fisher Hall box office. On the day of each performance, $10 tickets for students, seniors, and disabled persons will also be available at the box office. A 45-minute Tuesday Night Box-Dinner Talk, during which aspects of the program will be discussed, will be held at 6pm on March 22; tickets are available for $20 (in addition to the concert ticket) and may be purchased by calling the number above.
