Musicals Tonight! Announces Schedule for Spring Arts Hour @ 6

Musicals Tonight! artistic director Mel Miller has announced the spring line-up for the company’s Arts Hour @ 6 program, which gives audiences a chance to interact with professionals in a variety of theater fields.

“Musical Mondays” (April 4, May 2, May 16) will feature members and graduates of the BMI/Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop presenting their works. “Classic Singing for Today” (April 6, May 4, May 18), about the interrelationship between musical theater and opera, will be led by WQXR evening host Midge Woolsey and New York City Opera and Broadway conductor Gerald Steichen. Forbidden Broadway stalwart Christine Pedi will present “The Actors Life” (April 8, May 6, May 20), a series featuring discussions with and performances by cast members of the Broadway productions of La Cage aux Folles, The Producers, and Forbidden Broadway. TheaterMania’s Peter Filichia and Matthew Murray will host the return engagement of the theater discussion “Bitch and Brag About Broadway” (April 5, May 3, May 17). And in “The Art of the News” (April 7, May 5, May 19), Newsweek-on-Air’s David Alpern will talk with a series of husband-and-wife journalists including Pete Hamill and Fukiko Aoki, Dean Joan Konner and Al Permutter, and Lynn Povich and Steve Shepard.
