McGovern to Star in National Tour of Little Women

Maureen McGovern, who plays Marmee in the Broadway production of the new musical Little Women, will headline the national tour of the show. Scheduled to begin August 30 at the Civic Theatre in San Diego, the 30-city tour will include stops in San Jose, Columbus, Chicago, Ft. Lauderdale, and Washington, D.C.

Based on the classic Louisa May Alcott novel, Little Women has a book by Allan Knee and a score by Jason Howland (music) and Mindi Dickstein (lyrics). The show is directed by Susan H. Schulman, with choreography by Michael Lichtefeld. The Broadway production also stars Sutton Foster as Jo March.

McGovern has previously starred on Broadway in The Pirates of Penzance, Nine, and 3 Penny Opera, in addition to having played Anna in a national tour of The King and I. She has appeared regionally in such shows as Elegies, Dear World, Letters From ‘Nam, The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, Of Thee I Sing, The Sound of Music, South Pacific, and Guys and Dolls.
