Lucille Lortel Awards Ceremony Set for May 3

The League of Off-Broadway Theatres and Producers has announced that the 19th annual Lucille Lortel Awards, which honor outstanding achievement Off-Broadway, will be bestowed on Monday, May 3 in a ceremony to begin at 7pm at the Minetta Lane Theatre (18 Minetta Lane).

In addition to the awards, there will be performances from the casts of the four nominees for Outstanding Musical, and playwright Tony Kushner — whose new musical Caroline, or Change is scheduled to open on Broadway in May — will be honored with induction to the Playwrights’ Sidewalk in front of the Lucille Lortel Theatre on Christopher Street. Celebrity masters of ceremonies and presenters will be announced shortly.

The cut-off date for awards eligibility is March 31; nominees will be announced on April 6 and posted on the website www.LortelAwards.com.

A limited number of tickets to the May 3 event will be available to the general public at $50 each. They may be purchased by calling Ticketmaster at 212-420-8000 or by visiting the Minetta Lane box office beginning on April 6.
