Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Will Land at the Ford Center in Spring 2005

Hard upon the recent announcement that the Broadway revival of 42nd Street will close in January 2005, it has just been announced that the Ford Center for the Performing Arts has already found a new tenant: The hit London stage version of the musical film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang will open at the theater in 2005, with previews beginning on March 29 and an opening set for April 25.

Based on Ian Fleming’s novel about a flying car and the subsequent Roald Dahl-scripted film version, Chitty has a book by Jeremy Sams and a score by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman that expands upon their score for the movie. The creative team, carried over from the London production, also includes director Adrian Noble, choreographer Gillian Lynne, set and costume designer Anthony Ward, lighting designer Mark Henderson, and sound designer Andrew Bruce.

Producers for the Broadway production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang are Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson for Eon Productions, Frederick Zollo, and Nicholas Paleologos.
