49th Annual Drama Desk Awards Ceremony to be Held on May 16; TheaterMania Will Webcast

The 49th annual Drama Desk Awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, May 16 at 9pm at the LaGuardia Concert Hall at Lincoln Center. For the second consecutive year, the event will be webcast by TheaterMania.com.

Last year’s ceremony was hosted by Broadway legend Chita Rivera; this year’s host has not yet been announced. The awards honor achievement on and Off-Broadway in a wide range of categories, and the ceremony will feature performances of songs from the season’s nominated musicals. A limited number of tickets to the event are allocated for purchase by the general public; information about purchasing tickets will be available soon.

The nominees for the 2004 Drama Desk Awards will be announced on Thursday, April 29, 8:30am, at the New York Friars Club. The Drama Desk membership is made up of over 140 critics, reporters, and editors who cover the New York theater scene. For more information, visit the website www.dramadesk.org.
