Auditions for Apollo Theater Amateur Night to be Held in Bridgeport, CT


Singers, dancers, and comedians take note: Auditions for Apollo Theater Amateur Night will be held at the Klein Memorial Auditorium in Bridgeport, Connecticut on Saturday, March 29.

The auditions will be judged by Apollo staff and 12 finalists will be selected. These finalists will appear at the Klein on Apollo Theater Amateur Night, Saturday, May 3. The winner of that show will receive $1,000 and the opportunity to perform at the world-famous Apollo Theater in New York. (Among the celebrities who got their start through Amateur Night: Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holliday, Sarah Vaughn, Stevie Wonder, James Brown, The Jackson Five, Dionne Warick, and Sisqo.)

To schedule an audition appointment, phone 203-366-4647. You must specify the talent competition you wish to enter and state whether you have any special needs that must be met; all bands must be self contained and any guitars or instruments that need a feed a should be noted. Those auditioning are encouraged to be punctual, but waiting may be required.

The Klein is located at 910 Fairfield Avenue in Bridgeport, and free parking is available in the lot across the street.
