Tony Nominee Jan Maxwell, Beth Dixon, John Aylward, and More to Star in Anthony Giardina's The City of Conversation

Directed by Tony winner Doug Hughes, the production will also feature Kristen Bush, Barbara Garrick, and Kevin O’Rourke.

Lincoln Center Theater has announced that five-time Tony nominee Jan Maxwell (Follies) has been cast in the upcoming production of The City of Conversation together with John Aylward, Kristen Bush, Beth Dixon, Barbara Garrick, Luke Niehaus, Kevin O'Rourke, and Michael Simpson. The new play, written by Anthony Giardina and directed by Tony winner Doug Hughes (Outside Mullingar), begins previews April 10 and opens May 5 at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater.

In The City of Conversation, political hostess Hester Ferris (Maxwell), a behind-the-scenes mover and shaker in the nation's capital, must face the personal losses that her choices inflict on her family over the course of 30 years.

The play will have sets by Tony winner John Lee Beatty (Outside Mullingar), costumes by Tony winner Catherine Zuber (The Bridges of Madison County), lighting by Tyler Micoleau, and original music and sound by Mark Bennett.

Anthony Giardina's plays include Living at Home, An American Family, Scenes From La Vie de Boheme, The Beach, Black Forest, and Custody of the Eye.
Director Hughes is currently represented on Broadway with John Patrick Shanley's new play Outside Mullingar, produced by Manhattan Theatre Club. His recent New York credits include The Big Knife, An Enemy of the People, Born Yesterday, Doubt, Frozen, and The Whipping Man.
