Susan Blackwell to Host Cutting-Edge Composers at 54 Below

Stars of Broadway’s ”Newsies”, ”Motown”, ”The Book of Mormon”, and more will perform the music of up-and-coming composing teams.

Susan Blackwell, who starred in Broadway's [title of show], will host the Cutting-Edge Composers concert at 54 Below on February 17. The show will feature material from new musicals written by up-and-coming composers who have yet to be produced on Broadway.

Directed and produced by Laura Pietropinto, with musical direction by Julie McBride and Benjamin Rauhala, the concert will include songs by Eli Bolin and Sam Forman, Landon Braverman and Derek Hassler, Carmel Dean, Drew Gasparini, Joe Iconis and Lance Rubin and Jason "SweetTooth" Williams, Aaron Jones and Sung Rno, Paul Loesel and Scott Burkell, Tim Rosser and Charlie Sohne, Lyons and Pakchar, Jeff Thomson and Jeremy Desmon, Benjamin Velez and Katie Hathaway, Alexander Sage Oyen, and Daniel Zaitchik.

Performing the material will be a host of Broadway and other belters including Ben Platt (The Book of Mormon), Ben Fankhauser (Newsies), Emma Hunton (Next to Normal), Nic Rouleau (The Book of Mormon), Nick Blaemire (Godspell), Lilli Cooper (Spring Awakening), Annie Golden (Hair), Van Hughes (American Idiot), Jen Johnson and the Volleygirls, Eric LaJuan Summers (Motown The Musical), Tracy McDowell (Motown The Musical), Julia Murney (Wicked), Conrad Ricamora (Here Lies Love), Amber Gray (Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812), and Donna Vivino (Wicked).
