Viva Broadway will present a screening of West Side Story at the United Palace Theatre on Sunday, February 23, as the second installment of the Sunday Movies at the Palace With Lin-Manuel Miranda series. Rita Moreno, who won an Oscar for her role as the film's Anita, will attend the event and lead a conversation at 5pm. A screening of West Side Story will follow at 5:30pm. Master of ceremonies Lin-Manuel Miranda (In the Heights) will introduce the film and join Moreno onstage for the conversation portion of the event.

West Side Story, adapted from the original 1958 Broadway musical, features music by Leonard Bernstein, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, a book by Arthur Laurents, and choreography by Jerome Robbins. A modern retelling of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, the story follows the forbidden love of Tony and Maria (Richard Beymer and Natalie Wood), whose relationship becomes embroiled in the conflicts of two warring New York City gangs.

Moreno, a Puerto Rican actress and singer, remains the only Hispanic artist ever to have won all four major annual American entertainment awards, which include the Oscar, Emmy, Grammy, and Tony Awards. She has appeared in eight Broadway productions including The Last of the Red Hot Lovers, Gantry, The Odd Couple, and The Ritz, for which she earned a 1975 Tony Award.
