January 10, 2013 - Tickets went on sale today for this year's Broadway Backwards concert, where, in proper LGBT fashion, leading men sing songs that were written for women and Broadway's leading women sing songs that were written for men. This annual event benefiting Broadway Cares and the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center, is scheduled for the Palace Theater on March 18 at 8pm.
Broadway Backwards began in 2006 as a grassroots concert performed at the LGBT Community Center, and grew into a much larger event performed on Broadway. Last year's benefit raised $329 thousand, with a roster of Broadway performers that boasted a collective 3 Tony Awards and 13 Tony nominations. Creator Robert Bartley will direct and choreograph with Amy Jones as co-choreographer. The show's gender-bending performers will be announced later this month.
