Originally presented as a one-night-only performance at Birdland in July, Julie Halston’s solo comedy show, Classical Julie, will return to the popular jazz club for a full month residency of Monday night performances, from March 4 to March 25. The show will feature unique style of comedic riffs about life and show business, including hilarious verbatim recitations of New York Times wedding announcements. Halston promises new material in which she expresses her fresh views on Shakespeare, Ibsen and other literary figures of high renown.

Halston began her solo career in 1992 with her off-Broadway show, Julie Halston’s Lifetime of Comedy, followed by numerous gigs in clubs such as Eighty-Eights and the Russian Tea Room. She is now an experienced Broadway veteran, having appeared in Gypsy, Hairspray, The Boys From Syracuse, and most recently, the Tony Award-winning musical Anything Goes as Evangeline Harcourt. One of her most notable credits, however, is her recurring role on HBO’s Sex and the City as Bitsy Von Muffling.
