Broadway will be Groovin' to the sounds of the 1960s rock band The Rascals this spring, when the popular group reunites for 15 performances at the Richard Rodgers Theatre. Running April 15-May 5, The Rascals: Once Upon a Dream will reunite original band members Felix Cavaliere, Eddie Brigati, Dino Danelli, and Gene Cornish. The opening night is set for April 18.
Featuring Rascals hits by Cavaliere and Brigati including "Good Lovin'," "Lonely Too Long," and "It's a Beautiful Morning," the concert/Broadway show hybrid will tell the story of the group through archival footage, narration, and other film segments. The show is written and co-directed by E Street Band guitarist Steven Van Zandt, with co-direction and video, lighting, and stage design by Marc Brickman. Van Zandt is producing the show with his wife, Maureen Van Zandt.
The Rascals: Once Upon a Dream made its debut at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York, where it played six performances. Executive produced by Larry Magid and BASE Entertainment, the show marks the first time the band members have played together since 1970.
