Pan Asian Repertory has announced details for two of its upcoming productions and its 35th anniversary gala.

Tony Award nominee and celebrated dancer Karine Plantadit will direct Stella Rising at the West End Theatre, March 8-17. This musical play, written and performed by Napua Davoy, tells the story of a mother and daughter reconciliation.

On Monday, March 19, Broadway veteran Raul Aranas and comedian Stephen Park will host Pan Asian Rep’s 35th Anniversary gala awards dinner, entitled Legacy & Homecoming, at the Edison Ballroom. Honorees include Hawaii Five-O and Lost star Daniel Dae Kim and research scientist Dr. Patricia E. Taylor. The event will also feature memorial tributes to La MaMa founder Ellen Stewart and entertainer and artist manager Jadin Wong.

Shigeko Sara Suga will direct and choreograph the dance theatre performance, Baudelaire: La Mort, at the West End Theatre, March 23-April 1. Co-created with Ernest Abuba, Anna Gheesling and Minouche Waring, who all perform, the piece fuses Butoh, Flamenco and French poetry. The cast will also include Tiffany Chen, Aaron Chieu, and Timothy Liu. The original score is written and performed live by Yukio Tsuji, and the production also features a Flamenco guitar performance by Arturo Martinez. The scenic design is by Gian Marco Lo Forte & Justin West; lighting design by Marie Yokoyama; and co-costume design by Keiko Obremski.
