The cast and creative team of the upcoming Broadway revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s Jesus Christ Superstar met the press on Tuesday, February 14 at New 42nd Street Studios. The musical will begin previews at the Neil Simon Theatre on March 1, with an opening set for March 22.
Directed by Des McAnuff, the production, which originated at The Stratford Shakespeare Festival, features Paul Nolan as Jesus Christ, Josh Young as Judas Iscariot, Chilina Kennedy as Mary Magdalene, Tom Hewitt as Pontius Pilate, Bruce Dow as King Herod, Marcus Nance as Caiaphas, and Aaron Walpole as Annas.
The ensemble, which features a pair of brothers and a father and son, includes Matt Alfano, Mary Antonini, Karen Burthwright, Jacqueline Burtney, Nick Cartell, Mark Cassius, Ryan Gifford, Kaylee Harwood, Jeremy Kushnier, Mike Nadajewski, Melissa O’Neil, Laurin Padolina, Katrina Reynolds, Jaz Sealey, Jason Sermonia, Julius Sermonia, Lee Siegel, Matt Stokes, Jonathan Winsby, Sandy Winsby, Krista Leis, and Matthew Rossoff.
The creative team includes Lisa Shriver (choreography), Rick Fox (musical director), Robert Brill (set design), Paul Tazewell (costume design), Howell Binkley (lighting), Steve Canyon Kennedy (sound design), and Sean Nieuwenhuis (video designer).
