Jake Heggie and Terrence McNally’s At the Statue of Venus Set for February 12 Release

Jake Heggie and Terrence McNally’s one-woman, one act opera, At the Statue of Venus, a scene for soprano and piano will be released by GPRrecords on CD on February 12. The piece was composed in 2005 for the grand opening of the Ellie Caulkins Opera House in Denver.

With libretto by McNally and music by Heggie, At the Statue of Venus centers on a woman at a museum, nervously waiting by the statue of Venus for a blind date. The album will feature Talise Trevigne.

The disc will also include two other compositions: Heggie’s Song Cycle:
Natural Selection
and Glen Roven’s The Santa Fe Songs.
