Daytime Emmy Nominee Thorsten Kaye to Join NBC’s Smash

Four-time Daytime Emmy Award nominee Thorsten Kaye will join the cast of NBC’s Smash in the recurring role of Nick, a love interest for producer Eileen Rand (played by Anjelica Huston), according to published reports.


Kaye spent more than 15 years on ABC daytime, playing Patrick Thornhart on One Life to Live, Ian Thornhart on Port Charles, and Zach Slater on All My Children.


The show, which will premiere on Monday, February 6, goes behind the scenes for the creation of a Broadway musical about Marilyn Monroe. The series’ pilot is directed by Tony Award winner Michael Mayer, features a teleplay by playwright Theresa Rebeck, and original songs by Tony Award winners Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman.


The series also stars Debra Messing, Katherine McPhee, Christian Borle, Jack Davenport, Megan Hilty, Brian d’Arcy James, Raza Jaffrey, and Jaime Cepero. Guest stars will include Will Chase, Bernadette Peters, Nick Jonas, Norbert Leo Butz, and Uma Thurman.
