Bill Irwin, Alfred Molina to Star in TNT’s Chelsea General Pilot

Broadway veterans Bill Irwin and Alfred Molina will star alongside Jamie Bamber and Jennifer Finnigan in David E. Kelley’s TNT medical drama pilot Chelsea General, according to Deadline.com.


The site reports that the series is based on CNN chief medical correspondent Sanjay Gupta’s upcoming novel Monday Mornings, and follows the lives of five surgeons as they push the limits of their abilities and confront their personal and professional failings.


Irwin won the Tony Award for Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, and four separate Tony nominations and a Drama Desk Award for Largely New York. His many other stage credits include Waiting for Godot, Bye Bye Birdie, The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia? Fool Moon, and Scapin.


Molina received Tony Award nominations for his three Broadway appearances, in Red, Fiddler on the Roof, and Art, and received Drama Desk and Theatre World Awards for Molly Sweeney.
