Primary Stages has extended A.R. Gurney’s Black Tie, playing at 59E59 Theatres. The production, directed by Mark Lamos, will now run through March 27.

In the play, Curtis simply wants to make a memorable toast at the rehearsal dinner for his son’s wedding. But before he is able to raise his glass, he must defend the time-honored ways of his past, including his attire. Cultures clash when a surprise guest is announced, threatening to throw convention out the window.

The company features Ari Brand (Teddy), Daniel Davis (Curtis’ Father), Gregg Edelman (Curtis), Carolyn McCormick (Mimi), and Elvy Yost (Elsie).

The creative team includes John Arnone (scenic design), Jess Goldstein (costume design), Stephen Strawsbridge (lighting design), and John Gromada (sound design).
