On Thursday, February 10, the cast and creative team of the new Broadway musical Catch Me If You Can met with members of the press. Previews for the show will begin at the Neil Simon Theatre on March 11 in anticipation of an opening on April 10. Jack O’Brien will direct, with choreography by Jerry Mitchell.

The cast stars Norbert Leo Butz as Carl Hanratty, Aaron Tveit as Frank Abagnale, Jr., Tom Wopat as Frank Abagnale, Sr. and Kerry Butler as Brenda Strong. The cast will also feature Rachel De Benedet as Paula Abagnale, Linda Hart as Carol Strong, Nick Wyman as Roger Strong, Joe Cassidy, Timothy McCuen Piggee, Brandon Wardell, Jennifer Frankel, Lisa Gajda, Bob Gaynor, Kearran Giovanni, Nick Kenkel, Grasan Kingsberry, Aleks Pevec, Kristin Piro, Rachelle Rak, Joe Aaron Reid, Angie Schworer, Sabrina Sloan, Sarrah Strimel and Katie Webber.

Based on the 2002 Steven Spielberg film of the same name, the show features a book by Terrence McNally, music by Marc Shaiman, and lyrics by Shaiman and Scott Wittman. The musical centers on a world-class con artist who is pursued by straight-arrow FBI agent.

In attendance at the press presentation was special guest Frank W. Abagnale, whose legendary teenage escapades provide the basis for the astonishingly true story that both movie and musical draws inspiration from.

The design team will include David Rockwell (set), William Ivey Long (costumes), Kenneth Posner (lighting), and Steve Kennedy (sound).
