Manhattan Theatre Club has announced the plays that will be presented as part of its “7@7” reading series, to be offered on consecutive Mondays February 28 – April 11 at New York City Center – Stage I.

As previously reported, one offering in the series will be Alfred Uhry’s Carl’s Sister (March 7). Based on Marie Brenner’s memoir Apples and Oranges, the play explores the liberal author’s relationship with her more conservative brother. Lynne Meadow will direct the performance, which will feature Tony Award winners Boyd Gaines and Julie White. Meadow will also stage a performance of Kelly Younger’s Tender, a play that explores the sorts of debts adult children owe their parents, to be offered on March 21.

The series will open on February 28 with Matthew Lopez’s Reverberation, directed by Leigh Silverman, which explores a shut-in man’s romance with a woman straining to live life to the fullest. Also slated for reading are Jonathan Caren’s look at modern friendship, The Recommendation (March 14), to be directed by Evan Cabnet; DC Jackson’s portrait of a decidedly nontraditional Scottish Christmas, The Chooky Brae (March 28), to be directed by Garry Hynes; and Michael Elyanow’s look at two families on the evening of Martin Luther King Jr.’s assassination, A Lasting Mark (April 4), to be directed by Michael Wilson.

The “7@7” series will conclude on April 11 with a performance of The Great Immensity, which will be written and directed by Steven Cosson and feature music and lyrics by Michael Friedman. The piece tells the story of Polly, a photojournalist who disappears while working in the rainforests of Barro Colorado Island in the Panama Canal, and her twin sister, who embarks on an international search for her sister.

All readings are free and open to the public, but space is limited and RSVPs are required. To RSVP, please click here or call (212) 399-3000 x 4163.
