Ben Lewis, Anna O’Byrne to Star in Phantom Sequel Love Never Dies in Australia

Ben Lewis and Anna O’Byrne will star as the Phantom and Christine Daaé, respectively, in the Australian production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Love Never Dies. Simon Phillips will direct the piece, which will play The Regent Theatre Melbourne beginning in May 2011.

This sequel to Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera features a book by Ben Elton, lyrics by Glenn Slater, and additional lyrics by Charles Hart.

The creative team will include Graeme Murphy AM (choreographer), Gabriela Tylesova
(set & costume designer), Nick Schlieper (lighting designer), Mick Potter (sound designer), David Cullen (orchestrations), and Guy Simpson (musical supervisor).

Lewis’ theater credits include the original cast of Priscilla Queen of the Desert – The Musical, Sir Galahad in the original Australian cast of Monty Python’s Spamalot, and Count Carl-Magnus in A Little Night Music for Opera Australia.

O’Byrne performed in the Australian production of The Phantom of the Opera, where she covered and performed the role of Christine Daaé opposite Anthony Warlow’s Phantom. She toured with the production to Perth, Adelaide and Taipei. Additional credits include Polly Peachum in Malthouse Theatre/Victorian Opera’s The Threepenny Opera.
