Alex Davis Set for Man of the Year Performances at The Knitting Factory

Alex Davis will offer two performances of Alex Davis: Man of the Year at the Knitting Factory on Saturday, February 19 at 8pm and Sunday, February 20 at 2pm. Thomas Caruso will direct the production.

The show is a 90-minute rock memoir, which recounts the performer’s life as a transgender man and the only child of iconic actor Brad Davis. The show will also feature Becky Gebhardt (bass), Caitlin Ary (vocals), Josh Brodis (keyboard), Mir “Doc” Yarfitz (cello), Patty Carr (vocals) and Rob “Byrd” Humphreys (drums).

The creative team will include Zachary Spitzer (lighting design), Melanie Renecker (sound design), and Lisa Zinni (costume design).

Alex Davis is a singer/songwriter who has been seen at such venues around the country as The Key Club and Highways Performance Space. His song “Stop” was featured in the 2007 indie black comedy Holding Trevor, and he performed on MTV’s video series How Do I Say This?. His 2010 album is Man of the Year, which includes three songs from the show.
