Rosie Perez, Martha Plimpton, et al. Set for A Leonard Lopate 25th Anniversary Roast

Martha Plimpton and Rosie Perez are among the celebrities who will participate in Music, Memories and Mockery: A Leonard Lopate 25th Anniversary Roast, to be held at 7pm on March 25 at Cooper Union. Humorist Andy Horowitz will serve as emcee for the event.

Other celebrities who are scheduled to appear to toast Lopate’s career are painter and photographer Chuck Close, chef Michael Lomonaco, and writer Phillip Lopate, who is also the honoree’s brother. Jazz pianist Jason Moran will provide musical entertainment.

Lopate’s interviews have been heard for the past 25 years on WNYC. Among the personalities he has interviewed are: Francis Ford Coppola, Norman Mailer, Barack Obama, Meryl Streep, Henry Kissinger and Toni Morrison. The Leonard Lopate Show has been recognized with three Associated Press Awards for “Best Interview” for Lopate’s conversations with President Jimmy Carter, Tony Bennett and Yoko Ono.
