Williams first played the role last year in the London company of the John Kander and Fred Ebb musical. Her other stage credits include the title role in Aida on Broadway and the national tour of The Color Purple. She is best known as a recording artist and member of the pop group Destiny's Child.

Chicago has been directed by Walter Bobbie and choreographed by Ann Reinking. The creative team includes John Lee Beatty (scenic design), William Ivey Long (costume design), Ken Billington (lighting design), and Scott Lehrer (sound design).
