Michael Shannon to Play Stage Manager in Off-Broadway Our Town

Oscar nominee Michael Shannon will assume the role of The Stage Manager in Thornton Wilder’s Our Town, running at the Barrow Street Theatre, on February 23. He will replace Stephen Kunken, who continues through February 19. David Cromer has directed the production.

The company also features Robert Beitzel (Howie Newsome), Susan Bennett (Mrs. Soames), Kati Brazda (Mrs. Webb), Will Brill (Joe Crowell), Nathan Dame (Sam Craig), Mark Hatton (Constable Warren), Jennifer Grace (Emily), Wilbur Edwin Henry (Professor Willard), Jake Horowitz (Wally Webb), Ronete Levenson (Rebecca Gibbs), Ben Livingston (Doc Gibbs), David Manis (Editor Webb), Daniel Marcus (Simon Stimson), James McMenamin (George), Lori Myers (Mrs. Gibbs), Jay Russell (Joe Stoddard), and Jason Yachanin (Si Crowell), along with Elizabeth Audley, Dana Jacks, Kathleen Peirce, Keith Perry, and Mark Shock.

Shannon received an Academy Award nomination for his performance in Revolutionary Road. His New York stage credits include Tracy Letts’ Bug and Killer Joe, Stephen Adly Guirgis’ The Little Flower of East Orange, and Craig Wright’s Lady. In addition, he is a founding member of Red Orchid Theatre in Chicago, where he recently appeared in Wright’s Mistakes Were Made.
