Memphis Original Cast Recording to Receive Nationwide Distribution from Rhino Records

The original cast recording of the new Broadway musical Memphis will be distributed nationwide by Rhino Records, beginning March 30.

Memphis is based on a concept by George W. George and features book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro, music and lyrics by Bon Jovi founding member David Bryan, direction by Christopher Ashley, and choreography by Sergio Trujillo.

As previously announced, a recording of the musical is currently available at the Shubert Theatre and via the show’s website. That recording has a bonus track of Bryan singing the song, “Memphis Lives in Me.”

The CD distributed by Rhino will contain 19 songs and feature a different bonus track: an acoustic version of “The Music of My Soul” with piano and vocals by Bryan.

Set in the segregated South of the 1950s, Memphis follows the fictionalized life story of white radio disc jockey Huey Calhoon (Chad Kimball), who falls in love with both rock & roll and an electrifying black singer named Felicia Farrell (Montego Glover).

The cast also includes Derrick Baskin (Gator), J. Bernard Calloway (Delray Jones), James Monroe Iglehart (Bobby), Michael McGrath (Mr. Simmons), and Cass Morgan (Gladys Calhoun). The company also includes Jennifer Allen, Brad Bass, Tracee Beazer, Kevin Covert, Hillary Elk, Dionne Figgins, Rhett George, John Jellison, Sydney Morton, Vivian Nixon, John Eric Parker, Jermaine R. Rembert, LaQuet Sharnell, Ephraim Sykes, Cary Tedder, Danny Tidwell, Daniel J. Watts, Katie Webber, Charlie Williams, and Dan’yelle Williamson.
