Matthew Broderick to Star in Beach Lane Pilot for NBC

Two-time Tony Award winner Matthew Broderick will star in the pilot of Beach Lane for NBC, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Paul Simms is writing the show.

In Beach Lane, Broderick will play a celebrity author hired by an irresponsible millionaire heir to run his struggling small-town newspaper in the Hamptons.

The actor won a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play for his performance in Brighton Beach Memoirs and a second Tony for Best Actor in a Musical for How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. In addition, he received a Tony nomination for his performance in The Producers. He was most recently seen onstage Off-Broadway in Kenneth Lonergan’s The Starry Messenger. Among his film credits are The Producers, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Biloxi Blues, and Torch Song Trilogy.
