Lincoln Center Theater to Present Broadway Productions of Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, A Free Man of Color, War Horse; South Pacific to Close August 22

Lincoln Center Theater has announced its Broadway productions for the 2010-2011 season. In addition, LCT has announced that its Tony Award-winning revival of South Pacific will close at the Vivian Beaumont Theater on August 22.

LCT will present a musical version of the Pedro Almodóvar film Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown at the Belasco Theater beginning on October 2. The production, which will open officially on November 4, will be directed by Tony Award winner Bartlett Sher. It has a book by Jeffrey Lane, and music and lyrics by David Yazbek.

John Guare’s new play, A Free Man of Color to be directed by George C. Wolfe, will begin previews at the Vivian Beaumont Theater on October 21, with an official opening on November 18. The play is a freewheeling epic set in 1802 New Orleans, and concerns Jacques Cornet, a new-world Don Juan and the wealthiest inhabitant of this sexually charged and racially progressive city.

Finally, LCT will team with the National Theatre of Great Britain, in association with Bob Boyett to present the U.S. premiere of the National Theatre’s critically acclaimed production of War Horse based on the novel by Michael Morpurgo and adapted by Nick Stafford with direction by Marianne Elliott and Tom Morris. The production is scheduled to begin performances at the Vivian Beaumont Theater on March 17, with an official opening on April 14.

Casting and creative teams for all shows will be announced at a later date.
